Humans in Nature: TRIAL

About This Course

Humans are part of (rather than separate from) nature. This cross-disciplined course will use the lens of art, natural history, science, and culture, to explore Humans in Nature at three levels:

The beginner level, recommended grades 3-5, cross-disciplined course digs into these thems, using the lenses of art, natural history, science, and culture, to explore:

  • What do organisms need to have in their community, ecosystem, and/or biome to survive and thrive?
  • Why might organisms move between communities, ecosystems, and/or biomes?
  • What kinds of impacts can different organisms have on their communities, ecosystems, and/or biomes?

The intermediate level, recommended grades 6-8, cross-disciplined course diges into these overaching themes, using the lenses of art, natural history, science, and culture, to explore:

  • What does it mean for a species to be considered or classified as “endangered”?
  • What relationships exist between humans and threatened and/or endangered species?

The advanced level, recommended grades 9-12, cross-disciplined course digs into the lenses of art, natural history, science, and culture, to explore:

  • What role(s) do emotions and feelings play in our understanding of the world and our responsibilities in it?
  • How can we take action to support causes we care about?
