Course content will become available Monday, October 14th, 2024 with a new asynchronous lecture available for five consecutive Mondays, culminating in a real-time virtual visit at 4pm Monday, November 18th. Content will remain available until November 25th.The Andy Warhol Museum’s latest temporary exhibition, KAWS + Warhol, explores the dark themes present in the work of both artists as well as their utilization of consumerism and popular culture.
In this online course, five lectures will each focus on a different conceptual connection between KAWS and Warhol. Learn about their approaches to advertising, street art, pop culture icons, death and darkness, and business art. A new lecture will debut each week and can be viewed at any time during the run of the course. Participants can share their own ideas about the art and ask questions via moderated discussion boards.
The course will conclude with a virtual guided tour of the KAWS + Warhol exhibition. These presentations will feature artworks and artifacts from the permanent collection of The Andy Warhol Museum—including works rarely on public display—in addition to paintings, sculptures, prints, and installations by KAWS.
Pennsylvania teachers who complete this course can receive Act 48 Credit.
